A bantamweight matchup Brazilian veteran Iuri Alcantara (30-5 MMA, 5-2 UFC) and Hawaiian prospect Russell Doane (14-3 MMA, 2-0 UFC) has been added to the UFC Fight Night 51 lineup.
UFC officials today announced the new contest, which takes place on Sept. 13 at Nilson Nelson Gymnasium in Brasilia, Brazil.
An official bout order for the fight card has yet to be released, but the entire event streams live on UFC Fight Pass.
The 33-year-old Alcantara currently sits at No. 12 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA bantamweight rankings. He fought most recently in May, needing just 25 seconds to score a knockout win over Vaughan Lee in Germany. He now returns to native soil, where he’s competing six times previously during his time in the octagon.
Meanwhile, Doane came to the UFC just this year after picking up a handful of titles on the regional fight scene. He debuted in the first UFC card of 2014, picking up a technical submission win over Leandro Issa in Singapore. He then returned to action earlier this month at UFC 175, where he picked up a hard-fought split-decision win over Marcus Brimage.
