Is UFC Hall of Famer Tito Ortiz Stepping Out of Retirement to Fight Again?

Tito OrtizIs former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz on the comeback trail?

It certainly sounds as if he’s at least considering it.

Ortiz was in Las Vegas for the UFC Fan Expo over the weekend, and perhaps he just caught the fight bug from all the excitement, but he has started tweeting some messages about a comeback.

“Fighting is starting to sound fun again. #Peopleschamp #comeback #Positive body is almost healed,” he wrote on Saturday.

But even after the Expo fervor died down and Ortiz had to get back into manager mode for his client Cris “Cyborg” Justino’s upcoming Invicta FC 6 headlining bout with Marloes Coenen, he didn’t relent.

“Nice 2be a free agent,” he tweeted in the early morning hours on Wednesday, continuing to insinuate a return could be on the horizon. “Need 2make a big decision 4my future 4my kids future. Nice 2 have a great surrounding and 2be healthy.#Positive 7yrs”

Ortiz began his professional career fighting for the UFC in 1997. He continued fighting until July of 2012. During that time, he became the UFC light heavyweight champion and defended the belt five times, a record that he shares with current champion Jon Jones.

He entered the UFC Hall of Fame last summer, prior to losing to Forrest Griffin in his last fight on July 7 at UFC 148.

The latter portion of Ortiz’s career was marred by several losses and littered with injury, although he always remained one of the more popular fighters in UFC history.

After stepping out of the Octagon, Ortiz stepped into the management business, launching Primetime 360 Entertainment & Sports Management Inc., which counts Cyborg among its initial clients.

Only time will tell if Ortiz decides to join his clients and return to the cage.
