Invicta FC Targeting Two More Titles for Early 2013 as Television Deals Loom

As women’s mixed martial arts continues to grow and flourish in the United States, Invicta FC looks to be the premiere organization for female fighting as they grow towards 2013.

Since debuting earlier this year, Invicta FC has put on two very successful shows thus far, both streamed for free online via their website, and they hope for the same level of accomplishment with their third show coming up this weekend.

Invicta FC President Shannon Knapp has always looked at this third show as the mark for where they will be headed in the next year because it shows they will survive the initial start up so many promotions can’t quite get past.

Following a great third show, then Knapp and the other executives at Invicta FC can start looking to expand their brand onto television screens instead of just online streaming.

“I’ve always said this first year, these first three shows, that we would go out there, that we would give them away for free, stream them live to the masses and build our brand, and we’ve been successful with that. When you look to do these alignments with a broadcast partner, you definitely have to look at everything that’s involved,” Knapp told MMAWeekly Radio recently.

“I just want to make right decisions based on the athletes and the promotion. We want to take our time.”

Knapp has been approached with television offers already, but to create a truly successful and viable product, the best way to get more bidding going on is to show that the promotion is already a hit.

When Invicta FC signs a television deal it will be the right time for the right money with the right broadcast partner.

“I think it’s important to go out there and prove you’re not a one hit wonder. The third show has always been the one that I’ve said will cement the fact that what we are doing, we’re doing it right, a lot of promotions don’t even make the third show, so this is like the show that says it all for me. For me this is the one that really says ‘hey, we’re serious, we’re here’,” said Knapp.

“From here we’ll start looking at some of those offers we’ve had and diving into it a little deeper. It’s always been about this third show for me.”

Just because Knapp is looking specifically at this weekend’s show in terms of success for the organization, that doesn’t mean she’s not already targeting potential dates and ideas for Invicta FC’s fourth show that will happen in early 2013.

Beyond a possible TV deal on the horizon, Invicta FC will also look to crown more champions with their first show in 2013, with a dedication to developing and establishing more weight classes in women’s MMA.

“I always look for the dates that respectfully I don’t have to worry about Bellator because we go on Saturdays, but where Zuffa doesn’t have a show. We’re looking at the end of January, first of February right in there,” Knapp revealed.

“I’m safely going to say we will probably try to crown a couple champions on that event in two different weight divisions. Hopefully by the end of 2013 we will have a champion in each and every one of our weight divisions.”

If the first two shows are any indication, Invicta FC will likely be sticking around for the foreseeable future, and don’t be surprised if they pop up on television sooner rather than later.
