Invicta FC 7 slated for Dec. 7 with three title fights, Honchak-Smith headliner

Invicta FC will close out its 2013 campaign with a championship tripleheader on Dec. 7, officials today announced.

Invicta FC 3 takes place Dec. 7 at Ameristar Casino Hotel Kansas City in Missouri, and it’s expected to stream as an online pay-per-view.

The fight card features nine bouts and three title fights, including a headliner between flyweight champion Barb Honchak (8-2) and Leslie Smith (6-3-1).

Honchak, who won the title with a decision victory over Vanessa Porto in April, looks for her eighth straight win when she meets Smith, who recently defeated Jennifer Maia to earn the title shot. She also picked up her third Invicta “Fight of the Night” bonus.

In the co-headliner, strawweight titleholder Carla Esparza (9-2), who recently won the belt with a win over Bec Hyatt, meets challenger Claudia Gadelha (11-0), an undefeated submission specialist from Brazil.

The third title fight features undefeated Lauren Murphy (7-0) and Miriam Nakamoto (2-0) for the organization’s first-ever bantamweight title.

Other include strawweights Felice Herrig (9-4) vs. Tecia Torres (3-0), strawweights Joanne Calderwood (7-0) vs. Katja Kankaanpaa (8-0-1), featherweights Julia Budd (5-2) vs. Charmaine Tweet (4-3), and flyweights Porto (15-6) vs. Zoila Frausto Gurgel (12-3).

Additionally, the card includes bantamweights Kelly Kobold (18-3) vs. Tonya Evinger (11-6) and flyweights Munah Holland (5-2) vs. Nina Ansaroff (5-4).
