Invicta FC 6 weigh-in results: Coenen, Santos official for inaugural belt

Headlining title challengers Marloes Coenen (21-5) and Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos (11-1) are now official for Saturday Invicta FC 6 event.

Coenen, Santos and the rest of the card hit the scales at today’s official weigh-in ceremony, which took place at Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City, Mo. The same venue hosts Saturday’s pay-per-view event.

Coenen and Santos, who meet in a rematch of their 2010 Strikeforce matchup, compete for the inaugural Invicta FC featherweight title. They lead a 10-fight main card that airs on pay-per-view. An additional three fights stream free prior to the featured bouts.

Santos did need two trips to the scale after initially weighing 145.1 pounds. However, after stripping down behind a towel, she came in just under the official limit at 144.9 pounds.

While the headliners had little issue making weight, the same could not be said of several undercard contestants. Jessica Penne, Tamikka Brents and Livia Von Plettenberg were all given additional time to lose weight after missing their mark the first time around. All but Von Plettenberg will still compete, but she was unable to drop the seven pounds she needed to coninue. Meanwhile, Veronica Rothenhausler was ruled medically ineligible to compete before she ever had a chance to step on the scale.
