Invicta FC 4 marks the promotion’s first foray into Internet pay-per-view, but it also marks the debut of the first Invicta FC strawweight championship.
Carlza Esparza has been through a couple of opponents en route to Saturday night’s event, but she and Bec Hyatt weighed in Friday afternoon in Kansas City, making their title bout official.
Esparza stepped on the scale at 114.8 pounds, while Hyatt made weight at 115 pounds even.
Hyatt’s weight was initially read as 115.6 pounds. The athletic commission’s inspector misread the weight, however, and confirmed to Invicta FC officials that Hyatt indeed made the weight without going over.
With Esparza vs. Hyatt being a title bout, both fighters must not weigh over the 115-pound limit. There is no one-pound allowance as there is in non-title fights.
