Featherweight champion Cristiane Justino is a pretty massive favorite in Saturday’s Invicta FC 15 headliner – according to the oddsmakers, anyway.
“Cyborg” (14-1) meets Russian submission specialist Daria Ibragimova (9-1) in the UFC Fight Pass-streamed main event, which takes place at The Hangar at OC Fair and Event Center in Costa Mesa, Calif.
Like many of her recent fights, Justino is a big favorite – but even among “Cyborg” fights, it’s a massively lopsided line. In fact, she opened as a -2225 favorite (via Twitter):
In other words, a $100 winning bet on Justino would net you a whopping $4.49 of profit. On the flip side, a winning $100 bet on Ibragimova, a +1075 underdog, would earn you $1,075.
According to bestfightodds.com, “Cyborg” has been at least a 6-1 favorite in every fight since her 2009 Strikeforce title fight with Gina Carano, where she was a modest -145 favorite prior to her championship win.
At Saturday’s event, Justino initially was expected to drop to 140 pounds for a catchweight bout before an eventual move to bantamweight, where the Brazilian’s longtime rival, Ronda Rousey, held the UFC title. But with Rousey’s upset loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193 in November, the featherweight champ’s move was again put on the back burner.
So Justino, who’s riding a 14-fight winning streak with 12 knockouts, is remaining at 145 pounds, where worthy title challengers are apparently in short supply.
