Injuries Alter UFC on FX 4; Ramos-Brown, Story-Jardine Now on Tap for Atlantic City

Papy Abedi, Matt Riddle and Jim Hettes have all been forced to withdraw from their scheduled bouts.

Octagon newcomer Brock Jardine steps in for Abedi to take on welterweight Rick Story, who must now cope with his second opponent switch after original adversary Rich Attonito was also pulled from the event due to injury.

Meanwhile, veteran UFC talent Matt Brown (Pictured) will face Luis Ramos in Riddle’s stead, and Joey Gambino will fill in for Hettes against Steven Siler. Sherdog.com previously reported Gambino’s inclusion in the event one week ago, when Siler’s management announced the change.

UFC on FX 4 takes place at Revel Casino in Atlantic City, N.J., and will be headlined by a pivotal lightweight contest pitting Gray Maynard against Clay Guida. The main draw airs live on FX, and Fuel TV is expected to broadcast the evening’s preliminary proceedings.

Beaten just once in 10 professional appearances, 26-year-old Jardine makes his UFC debut on a three-fight winning streak. “The Machine” suffered the only loss of his professional career in 2010, when he was knocked out by future “Ultimate Fighter” Season 13 winner Tony Ferguson. The Orem, Utah, resident made his last in-cage appearance on May 4, dispatching Blas Avena via technical knockout.

After stumbling in his UFC debut against John Hathaway in 2009, Story rattled off six consecutive victories before running into Charlie Brenneman in June 2011. Following that unanimous decision defeat, Story was again outpointed on Nov. 19 by well-rounded Dane Martin Kampmann at UFC 139. “The Horror” owns notable victories over Johny Hendricks, Brian Foster and Thiago Alves.

Brown, 31, has won three of his last four following a trio of defeats in 2010. “The Immortal” has been perfect in 2012 thus far, punching out “TUF 13” vet Chris Cope before outpointing previously unbeaten karate stylist Stephen Thompson at UFC 145 last month. A 25-fight veteran, Brown owns 12 of his 14 career wins by either knockout or submission.

Also 31, Ramos began his pro career in 2001 but did not make his UFC debut until last year, falling to countryman Erik Silva by technical knockout in just 40 seconds at UFC 134. The defeat snapped a three-fight winning streak for the Nova Uniao representative, who has gone the distance in over half of his 26 career outings.
