In 'UFC 189: Thrill and Agony,' Dana White's touching cageside chat with Brad Pickett

In “UFC 189: The Thrill and the Agony,” we get a behind-the-scenes look at this past Saturday’s pay-per-view event, and perhaps no scene is more touching than the one with UFC President Dana White and Brad Pickett.

Following Saturday’s pay-per-view main-card opener at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena, Pickett (24-11 MMA, 4-6 UFC) was complaining about his knockout loss to fast-rising contender Thomas Almeida (20-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC).

However, White was quick to embrace Pickett and explain that the stoppage, which resulted from a flying knee, was perfectly justified. However, the UFC exec was also quick to thank Pickett for taking such a tough fight (Almeida was a massive favorite) and putting in such a respectable effort. It showed the softer side of the exec and appeared to truly console Pickett.

“You almost had that fight,” White told him. “That kid is undefeated. I have been talking about that kid for two f-cking weeks. You almost stopped the show.

“Don’t be discouraged. That was incredible.”
