A welterweight bout between Ildemar Alcantara (18-5 MMA, 1-0 UFC) and Jason High (16-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) is in the works for June’s UFC on FUEL TV 10 event.
Tatame.com first brought word of the matchup, though UFC officials haven’t made a formal announcement.
UFC on FUEL TV 10, which also serves as the finale of “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 2,” takes place June 8, likely at Ginasio Paulo Sarasate in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil. The main card airs on FUEL TV following prelims on Facebook.
Alcantara vs. High likely will be part of the prelims.
Alcantara recently made his octagon debut as an injury replacement and scored a kneebar-submission victory over Wagner Prado (in a light-heavyweight bout). That moved the fighter, whose brother Yuri also fights for the UFC, to 8-0 since 2011 and 12-1 since late 2009. Soon after his latest win, he confirmed his plans to drop from 205 to 170 pounds.
High returns to the UFC for the first time since a 0-1 stint in 2010 that included a decision loss to Charlie Brennaman. Since then, the California-based fighter has posted seven consecutive victories. He topped Jordan Mein at a regional show in Canada, edged Hayato Sakurai via split decision in DREAM, and also picked up recent Strikeforce wins over Quinn Mulhern, Todd Moore and Nate Moore.
