An illness has forced Ian Entwistle off the UFC 204 lineup a day before his scheduled bout.
A UFC official today told MMAjunkie an undisclosed illness has forced Entwistle (9-3 MMA, 1-2 UFC) out of his fight with bantamweight Rob Font (12-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC).
The news came just minutes before today’s UFC 204 officials weigh-ins were set to conclude; Entwistle didn’t weigh in, though Font successfully made weight.
UFC 204 takes place Saturday at Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.
Entwistle vs. Font was slated for the FS1 prelims. A lightweight bout between Marc Diakiese (9-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) and Lukasz Sajewski (13-2 MMA, 0-2 UFC), which was originally slated for the UFC Fight Pass prelims, has taken its spot and will open the FS1 portion of the card.
A UFC official told MMAjunkie that Font, who has been removed from the card since a replacement can’t be secured on such short notice, will be paid his fight purse (“show” money).
The latest UFC 204 card now includes:
MAIN CARD (Pay-per-view, 10 p.m. ET)
PRELIMINARY CARD (FS1, 8 p.m. ET)
PRELIMINARY CARD (UFC Fight Pass, 7 p.m. ET)
