A short notice fight has turned into no fight for David Mitchell after his opponent Hyun Gyu Lim was pulled from UFC on Fuel 6 after a complication arose during his weight cut.
Sources close to the fighter confirmed to MMAWeekly.com that Lim was deemed unable to compete after an unknown problem came up while the first time UFC fighter was going through his weight cut. UFC officials later confirmed the change as well.
While specifics were not discussed, Lim was not allowed to continue and his fight with David Mitchell was yanked from the card taking place in Macao in less than 48 hours.
Additionally, sources have indicated that Mitchell will receive his show money from the UFC for the fight after Lim had to be pulled from the match-up.
Mitchell was returning from more than a year away from the sport dealing with injuries, and he was stepping in on short notice to accept the fight in China.
Now he’ll return home with a paycheck, but no fight on his record. Mitchell will likely look to get back in action soon after the disappointing trip to China.
