Bellator officials Monday confirmed to Sherdog.com that Missourian lightweight Mike Corey has signed on to face Horodecki this Saturday at Casino Rama in Rama, Ontario, Canada. Corey steps in on less than two weeks’ notice after Tirloni suffered dislocated ribs in training.
The matchup will be part of Bellator 57’s preliminary undercard, which streams live on Spike.com at 7 p.m. ET. The main card, which airs on MTV2 and Epix at 9 p.m. ET, features a pair of fifth-season tournament finals.
Alexander Shlemenko will tangle with Vitor Vianna to decide the company’s next middleweight challenger, while Ben Saunders and Douglas Lima will vie for No. 1 contendership at 170 pounds. Two non-tournament bouts will round out the televised card, with Brazilian prospect Alexandre “Popo” Bezerra and Douglas Evans clashing at featherweight, and Halifax’s Roger Hollett meeting Ohioan John Hawk at light heavyweight.
Joining Horodecki-Corey on the undercard is a trio of lightweight bouts -- Dave Jansen versus Ashkan Morvari, Eric Moon versus Josh Shockley and Taylor Solomon versus Mike Sledzion -- and a bantamweight tilt between fellow Ontarians Chuck Mady and Denis Puric.
A 205-pound contest pitting unbeaten Virginian Matt Van Buren against Oshweken, Ontario’s Shawn Levesque has also been confirmed for the event, but is not certain to be broadcast.
