Herschel Walker, Age 54, Wants to Fight Again; Open to Rampage Jackson Bout

Former NFL great and Olympic bobsledder Herschel Walker wants to fight for Bellator by the end of the year.

In an interview with TMZ Sports, Walker said that, despite being 54 years of age, he is ready to get back in the cage and fight again. Walker currently has two bouts to his credit. He won both, defeating Scott Caron and Greg Nagy under the Strikeforce banner.

Although he’s well past the age that most would consider reasonable for returning to the cage, Walker doesn’t let his age define his ability.

“I’m not like everyone else. There’s not a doubt in my mind I could fight again, and I’d love to do it,” he said during Friday’s interview. And for him, returning to the cage would mean partnering with Strikeforce founder Scott Coker, who now heads Bellator.

“Scott Coker is a good friend of mine. I told him I want to do something by the end of the year.”

Walker’s past opponents weren’t exactly household names in the MMA world, but that doesn’t stop him from aiming high in his return.

“I want it to be a worthy opponent. I want it to be someone so that it can keep the integrity of the support,” said Walker.

When asked if that meant he was willing to fight the likes of Quinton “Rampage” Jackson – who just won in the Bellator: Dynamite 2 main event on Friday night – Walker didn’t back down.

“Oh, it’s possible. I’ll fight anyone.”

With Coker’s willingness to put other “overaged” fighters like Royce Gracie, Ken Shamrock, and Kimbo Slice into the Bellator cage, it wouldn’t be a stretch to see him bring Walker back for a fight or two.
