Another heavyweight tilt is on tap for the UFC’s return to Wisconsin later this summer.
Unbeaten UFC newcomer Nikita Krylov (14-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) will meet Soa Palelei (18-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) at UFC 164 in Milwaukee.
Sources close to the fight on Thursday confirmed the fight booking to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). Fight News Australia first reported the planned matchup.
UFC 164 takes place Aug. 31 at Bradley Center in Milwaukee. The main card will air on pay-per-view.
Krylov, from the Ukraine, has won all 14 of his fights by stoppage – and all in the first round. Krylov went 11-0 in 2012, his first year fighting as a pro, despite not having his first fight until July. His resume includes instances of multiple wins in two- and three-day stretches.
Nine of Krylov’s 14 wins have come by submission. But his three wins in 2013, including at an April M-1 Challenge event, have been by knockout or TKO.
Palelei, from Australia, was scheduled to meet Stipe Miocic at UFC 161 next month. But Miocic instead was booked to fight Roy Nelson, and Palelei awaited a new booking. Palelei has won eight straight fights, most recently a win over former UFC heavyweight Sean McCorkle in December.
