Heavyweights Pat Barry, Shane Del Rosario Slated for “Ultimate Fighter 16” Finale

A heavyweight confrontation between Pat Barry and Shane del Rosario will take place at “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 16 finale, promotion officials recently announced.

Headlined by a “TUF 16” coaches’ conflict pitting Roy Nelson against Shane Carwin, the Dec. 15 event takes place at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The event will also showcase the reality series’ welterweight tournament finals, as well as a 170-pound clash between Mike Pyle and James Head.

Barry, 33, has lost three of his last four fights. The kickboxing specialist has competed twice in 2012 already, kicking off this year with a devastating knockout of Christian Morecraft on Jan. 20. However, “HD” was then knocked out by hard-hitting former Strikeforce talent Lavar Johnson on May 5 at UFC on Fox 3. Barry owns six of his seven career wins via form of knockout and has posted a 4-5 Octagon record in nearly four years with the UFC.

Del Rosario also enters the cage coming off a loss, as the 29-year-old was handed his first career setback by Stipe Miocic this past May at UFC 146. Prior to that defeat in his Octagon debut, the Californian had rattled off 11 consecutive wins to start his career, besting Brandon Cash, Lolohea Mahe and Johnson during his three-fight Strikeforce stint from 2009 to 2011.
