Hall, Gastelum, Andrews, Barnatt win $25,000 'TUF 17' season bonuses

uriah-hall-2.jpgLAS VEGAS – Uriah Hall came up short in the finals of Season 17 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” but he still has something to show for his efforts during the season.

On Saturday, he dropped a split decision to Kelvin Gastelum. But Hall picked up a $25,000 bonus for the season’s best knockout for his head-kick KO of Adam Cella on the season’s third episode.

Bonuses of $25,000 also went to Gastelum for the season’s best submission, and Dylan Andrews and Luke Barnatt for the season’s top fight.

UFC officials announced the winners during Saturday’s TUF 17 Finale, which took place at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The main card aired on FX following prelims on FUEL TV and Facebook.

Hall’s knockout of Cella was called by many, including UFC President Dana White, the most devastating knockout in “TUF” history. It sent Cella to the hospital. Hall followed that up with two more knockouts to reach the finals, where he was a 3-to-1 favorite against Gastelum, his teammate under coach Chael Sonnen.

Gastelum submitted Josh Samman with a first-round rear-naked choke in an upset in the semifinals to get to his fight with Hall. Gastelum was the youngest fighter in “TUF” history and also was the last fighter picked by Sonnen after the elimination round. To go with his six-figure UFC deal and a new Harley-Davidson motorcycle for winning the show, Gastelum also gets an extra $25,000.

Andrews and Barnatt battled for 10 minutes, but needed a third sudden-victory round in the quarterfinals. Once there, Andrews, the last overall fighter picked and the oldest fighter in the house at 32 upset Barnatt, the first overall pick on the show, with a knockout.
