Will Georges St-Pierre ever fight again? That’s the million (or perhaps multi-million) dollar question.
St-Pierre’s longtime coach and friend, Firas Zahabi, was a guest of Inside MMA on Friday night, and was asked his thoughts about the former UFC champion’s health and what he felt the prospect was for a GSP return to the Octagon.
After he jumped ship from the active UFC roster, St-Pierre suffered another ACL injury, but it appears that without a fight on the horizon, he has had the time and energy to focus on his health and it’s done wonders for him.
“He looks in better shape than he was when he was at his peak,” said Zahabi.
But that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s ready to step back in the cage. Yes, the UFC has made great strides towards cleaning up performance-enhancing drug use in the sport. Yes, St-Pierre’s mental state is the best it has been in years. And yes, he has the base fitness to jump right back into the fight game.

And Zahabi thinks that one day, St-Pierre will come back, but the name across from his on the fight poster is going to have to be “another colossal name.”
