Garcia-Caceres Featherweight Tilt Targeted for UFC Live 5

Verbal agreements are in place for a featherweight scrap between Texas “Bad Boy” Leonard Garcia and “Ultimate Fighter” Season 12 participant Alex Caceres at UFC Live 5, the promotion announced Wednesday.

Featuring a pivotal lightweight duel between former WEC champion Benson Henderson and the surging Jim Miller, UFC Live 5 goes down Aug. 14 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee. The evening’s main card airs live on cable network Versus.

Known for his exciting performances, Garcia (Pictured), 31, made his UFC debut in 2007 while fighting as a lightweight. After dropping to 145 pounds and joining the Zuffa-owned WEC, Garcia racked up a record of 4-3-1 before returning to the UFC at the “TUF 12” Finale in December. After walking away that night with a controversial split decision victory over Nam Phan, Garcia’s next Octagon effort would end in defeat, as he was submitted by Chan Sung Jung with a twister at UFC Fight Night 24.

Only 22 years old, Caceres made his official debut in March. The Floridian would come up short in his efforts at UFC Fight Night 24 in Seattle, falling by rear-naked choke to Mackens Semerzier in just over three minutes. Widely known for his Afro hairdo and “Bruce Leroy” gimmick, Caceres has finished all four of his defeated foes since beginning his career in December of 2008.
