PASAY, Philippines – Frankie Edgar and Urijah Faber entered their UFC Fight Night 66 bout with a lot of respect for each other and it appears they left the event the same way after Edgar’s unanimous decision victory.
Following a competitive featherweight fight that was far closer than the scorecards reflected, the two fighters spoke at the post-fight press conference and had plenty of complimentary things to say about each other.
Edgar (19-4-1 MMA, 13-4-1 UFC) also mentioned that he was ready to hijack UFC President Dana White’s plane to try to get another shot at the UFC featherweight title after the win. Unfortunately for the former lightweight champ, White was not in attendance at the event.
Faber (32-8 MMA, 8-4 UFC) credited Edgar’s success in scrambles and his ability to shoot for a takedown and either try to finish the move or turn it into a striking exchange in the same motion as one of the more complicated aspects of Edgar’s game. He also said he likes “a little crazy” in his fights, something Edgar minimized.
