Former Top NBA Draft Pick Darko Milicic is Going to be a Kickboxer

Darko Milicic, the No.2 overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft, is giving up basketball to beat people up.

According to a report from NBASerbia.com (there’s basketball in Serbia?), the 7-foot, now-former NBA player has officially retired from professional basketball and will try his hand — and foot, apparently — at kickboxing.

Milicic will sign with WAKO Pro (World Association of Kickboxing Organizations) and have his first fight announced on Wednesday, according to the report, which was horribly translated for us by Google Translate.

As far as his professional kickboxing experience, we didn’t find any. And there isn’t so much as a Sherdog profile for the guy, so we guess no MMA for him? Shucks.

Milicic hasn’t played in the NBA since 2012, when he had a short stint with the Boston Celtics, and he’s considered one of the biggest NBA busts of all time. To put it in perspective for you, he was drafted just after LeBron James and ahead of Carmelo Anthony, Dwayne and Chris Bosh. All of those guys are current NBA superstars, whereas Darko couldn’t make an all-star team if he paid for it.

Let’s hope for him that the fight game is nicer to him than that of the NBA.
