Following Back-To-Back Losses, Mario Miranda Released from the UFC

It was a tough run for Mario Miranda during his UFC career, but following back-to-back losses the Brazilian has been released from the promotion.

Miranda’s manager Ed Soares confirmed the news to MMAWeekly Radio on Wednesday.

“He’s bummed, but he kind of expected it. He got cut unfortunately,” Soares revealed.

Miranda had no easy run in the middleweight division. Following a TKO loss to Gerald Harris in his debut, Miranda bounced back by putting an absolute beating on former middleweight title contender David Loiseau in his second fight.

Unfortunately, Miranda fell short in his next two fights dropping decisions to both Demian Maia and Aaron Simpson at UFC Fight Night 24.

As a young fighter, Miranda and his manager believe he can easily work his way back to the UFC, but he’ll have to earn it.

“His last 4 fights he’s had 3 losses in the UFC, and I think he just needs to go back to the drawing board and get some wins,” said Soares.

“Our goal is try to get him to fight three more times by the end of the year, and put three more wins together and try to get him back in there.”
