Flyweight Chad Robichaux signs with WSOF

chad-robichaux-1.jpgFormer Bellator and Strikeforce fighter Chad Robichaux has signed a multi-fight deal with World Series of Fighting.

WSOF officials confirmed the signing with MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, though a debut date is expected to be announced shortly.

Robichaux (19-2), a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and longtime grappler, is a 14-year MMA pro who owns 17 submissions in 19 career wins. Fifteen of the flyweight and bantamweight’s victories have come in the first round.

Robichaux, 37, won his first 18 pro fights, which included a split-decision victory over Humberto DeLeon at an August 2010 Strikeforce event. In his next bout, he suffered a TKO loss to Bellator champ Zach Makovsky in a non-title bout, and then Jonathan Mackles submitted him in a Legacy FC fight in 2011. However, in his following Legacy FC fight, Robichaux submitted Joseph Sandoval. The May 2012 fight remains his most recent appearance (a subsequent Legacy FC flyweight title fight with Will Campuzano was scrapped due to kidney issues).

A Special Operations Force RECON Marine who also worked with the U.S. Federal Air Marshal Service, Robichaux has seen a few layoffs in his career, which coincided with tours of duty in Afghanistan. He is a frequent military public speaker.
