Fellow fighters predict UFC 168’s Weidman vs. Silva II headliner

When it comes to next month’s UFC 168 headliner and rematch between middleweight champion Chris Weidman and Anderson Silva, their fellow fighters are leaning toward the ex-champ.

At least among the fighters UFC.com polled ahead of the Dec. 28 fight, when Weidman (10-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) and Silva (33-5 MMA, 16-1 UFC) meet on pay-per-view at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Notables such as Daniel Cormier, Junior dos Santos, Chael Sonnen, Cain Velasquez and Liz Carmouche shared their opinions on the fight, which is one of the year’s biggest.

Michael Chiesa offered an opinion shared by many, but he stopped short of calling for Silva’s redemption.

“I think Anderson’s not going to mess around obviously,” he said. “There’s not going to be any of this (dancing around). I think Anderson is going to be a little more smart this fight. I think he’s going to be very aggressive. I’ve still got Weidman, though. Anderson’s still a phenomenal fighter. He could beat 99 percent of the guys in the UFC, but I feel like it’s Chris Weidman’s time.”
