alexander-gustafsson-9.jpgThe UFC returns to Toronto in September for UFC 165, which will be its fourth visit to the city. And for the second straight time there, the card will have a pair of title fights.

UFC 165 takes place Sept. 21 at Air Canada Centre and features a pair of title fights. In the main event, light heavyweight champion Jon Jones (18-1 MMA, 12-1 UFC) meets Alexander Gustafsson (14-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC), and in a recently announced co-main event, interim bantamweight champ Renan Barao (30-1 MMA, 5-0 UFC) defends against Eddie Wineland (20-8-1 MMA, 2-2 UFC).

At UFC 152 in September 2012, Jones beat Vitor Belfort in the main event, and Demetrious Johnson beat Joseph Benavidez to win the inaugural flyweight title.

Prior to September’s event, fans are invited to a pre-fight kickoff news conference next week in Toronto.

The July 9 press conference takes place at the Real Sports Bar and Grill, 15 York St. in downtown Toronto adjacent to Air Canada Centre. The event begins at noon ET with doors for fans expected to open within the hour beforehand. On hand for the news conference will be Jones, Gustafsson and UFC Director of Canadian Operations Tom Wright.

Tickets for UFC 165 go on sale to the general public Thursday, July 11, at 10 a.m. ET with prices ranging from $75 to $450, plus fees. But UFC Fight Club members can purchase tickets on Tuesday at 10 a.m. ET, and subscribers to the UFC’s e-newsletter can get tickets in advance on Wednesday at 10 a.m. ET.

“Jon Jones is rewriting the record book for the light heavyweight division,” UFC President Dana White stated. “He is one of the pound-for-pound best in the world with a record-tying five straight title defenses by age 25. This bout with Gustafsson is an awesome fight. Alex is a big man, plus he’s mean and hungry – and excited for the opportunity to fight Jones.”
