As Bellator MMA gears up for its pay-per-view debut next week, the organization has invited fans to its open workouts, weigh-ins and a community event.
Bellator 120, a deep 14-bout lineup with the headlining trilogy fight between lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez (25-3 MMA, 9-1 BMMA) and Michael Chandler (12-1 MMA, 9-1 BMMA), takes place May 17 at the Landers Center in Southaven, Miss., just outside of Memphis.
Prior to Saturday’s show, which also includes prelims on Spike TV and Spike.com, fight fans can get up close and personal with the card’s fighters.
Thursday, May 15, plays host to the open workouts. They take place at Memphis Judo & Jiu-Jitsu (7859 U.S. 64 in Memphis). The event kicks off at 2 p.m. ET (1 p.m. CT local time) with Chandler and Alvarez, as well as co-headliners Quinton Jackson and Muhammed Lawal. Main-card fighters Tito Ortiz and Alexander Shlemenko, as well as Bellator exec Bjorn Rebney, also will be in attendance.
Friday, May 16, plays host to the official fighter weigh-ins. They takes place the Landers Center and kick off at 5 p.m. CT. Cage announcer Michael C. Williams, emcee Jimmy Smith, Rebney and all 28 Bellator 120 fighters will be in attendance for the festivities.
In addition to the workouts and weigh-ins, Bellator will be represented at the Memphis World Championship Barbecue Festival and Cooking Contest next Thursday-Saturday. Fans will have the opportunity to meet Bellator girls Jade Bryce and Mercedes Terrell on Friday from 3-5 p.m. CT.
