Evangelista ‘Cyborg’ Santos, Pete Spratt to Headline Legacy Fighting Championship 17

Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos has a date and dance partner for his Legacy Fighting Championship debut.

The Strikeforce, Sengoku and Pride Fighting Championships veteran will square off with former UFC talent Pete Spratt at LFC 17 on Feb. 1 in San Antonio, promotion officials recently revealed to Sherdog.com. The card also includes a heavyweight clash between unbeaten Richard Odoms and former NCAA All-American wrestler Jared Rosholt, as well a lightweight showdown pitting 29-fight veteran Nick Gonzalez against onetime Bellator competitor Kevin Aguilar.

A student of the vaunted Chute Boxe Academy, Santos has lost six of his last nine outings. The 34-year-old Brazilian last competed at Strikeforce “Barnett vs. Kharitonov,” where he fell to Jordan Mein via TKO in the third round. He was also submitted by then-Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz in January 2011. The former Cage Rage title challenger has finished 16 of his 18 professional victories by way of knockout or submission.

Spratt, 41, appeared twice under the LFC banner in 2011, knocking out Antonio Flores in 25 seconds before losing a five-round split verdict to Jorge Patino at LFC 8. The seven-time UFC veteran will carry a two-fight winning streak into his encounter with Spratt, most recently besting Daniel Acacio at Amazon Forest Combat 2 on March 31.
