Eddie Alvarez Wants the Winner of Nate Diaz vs. Conor McGregor

Eddie Alvarez Wants the Winner of Nate Diaz vs. Conor McGregor

Eddie Alvarez added the UFC lightweight belt to his collection of titles when he finished former champion Rafael dos Anjos in the first round of the UFC Fight Night 90 main event on July 7.

On August 20, Alvarez will attend UFC 202 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas looking to pick a fight with the winner of the main event between Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor.

Eddie Alvarez Post UFC Fight Night 90 v1“I’m going to head out to Vegas Aug. 20 and try to stick my finger in someone’s chest and try to start a fight,” he said during a recent edition of UFC Tonight.

Neither is the top-contender in the 155-pound division, but the champion doesn’t care about that. He’s looking to score a big payday.

“These guys who are part of the circus, they’re getting paid a lot of money, so I want to be part of the circus for a little bit. Give me that fight,” he said. “Anybody who wins that. I want to join the circus. Let me be a part of it just for a little bit.”

Diaz and McGregor first fought at UFC 196 in a welterweight bout, but McGregor was originally scheduled to face the lightweight titleholder at the time, dos Anjos, in a superfight between reigning champions. While the rematch is taking place at 170 pounds, Diaz is a natural lightweight. No matter who wins the Aug. 20 main event, Alvarez wants to fight the winner.
