Duffee-Grove, Shlemenko-Minowa, Kelly-Ruediger Booked for Super Fight League 2

Six big-show veterans have joined the fight card for the sophomore effort from burgeoning Indian organization Super Fight League.

Promotion officials Tuesday confirmed a trio of bouts for Super Fight League 2, which takes place April 7 in Chandigarh, India. In addition to a previously rumored heavyweight tilt between Todd Duffee and Neil Grove, the show will feature a middleweight matchup pitting Alexander Shlemenko against Ikuhisa Minowa and a lightweight contest between UFC veterans Paul Kelly and Gabe Ruediger.

Like the company’s March 11 debut, Super Fight League 2 will stream live and free of charge on YouTube.

Duffee, 26, will compete for the first time in 15 months and looks to rebound from the first losses of his young career. After knocking out his first six opponents, the Grudge Training Center product was punched out by Mike Russow and Alistair Overeem in back-to-back outings. His opponent, 41-year-old Grove, also comes off two losses, having been outpointed by Mike Hayes and submitted by Thiago Santos in the Bellator cage last October.

Shlemenko (Pictured, right) and Minowa enter their meeting with a combined 145 bouts to their credit. A two-time Bellator middleweight tournament winner, Russian striker Shlemenko rattled off seven wins in 2011, including finishes of Zelg Galesic and Brian Rogers. Japanese stalwart “Minowaman” had a five-fight winning streak snapped by Kendall Grove in January but rebounded on March 11 with a first-round submission win against Shigeki Tsuchiya.

Returning from a 13-month hiatus, “Tellys” Kelly will fight outside the UFC for the first time since 2007. The English lightweight was released from the promotion after being submitted by Donald Cerrone in February 2011, capping a 5-4 run in the Octagon. Ruediger is 0-3 in his UFC appearances and was most recently bounced after losses to Joe Lauzon and Paul Taylor. “Godzilla” was upset in his March 16 return to competition, succumbing to second-round punches from Scott Catlin at BAMMA USA “Badbeat 5.”
