Did Jon Jones’ Social Media Foray Give Daniel Cormier a Target to Hit at UFC 178?

UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones on Thursday posted a short video to his Instagram account of him getting stitched up.

The champ suffered a cut above his left eye that required several stitches, so as he was getting doctored up, he got the procedure on video and posted it on Instagram.

It was a sizable gash, but not one that is expected to delay his Sept. 27 showdown with Daniel Cormier at UFC 178 in Las Vegas.

Cormier, however, took advantage of Jones’ post to keep their social media mind game attacks properly fueled, saying he was going to take Jones down and “grind my elbow into that cut,” and that “some things should remain private.”

So could Jones’ affection for social media help lead to his downfall at UFC 178? Would he have been better off not leaking out any information about any injuries he’s suffered in training?
