Despite scratch, Stefan Struve, Matt Mitrione get full paydays at UFC 175

LAS VEGAS – Despite their fight being scratched from UFC 175 on Saturday, Stefan Struve and Matt Mitrione each will receive both their show money and win bonuses.

UFC President Dana White confirmed the news to MMAjunkie following Saturday’s post-fight news conference for the event, which took place at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The main card aired on pay-per-view.

Struve (25-6 MMA, 9-4 UFC) and Mitrione (7-3 MMA, 7-3 UFC) were set to meet in a heavyweight bout in the middle of the main card. But not long before their bout, Struve suffered what was termed to be a near-fainting episode backstage.

After being monitored by doctors, even though his condition returned to acceptable levels, the fight was scrapped for precautionary reasons.

Struve was attempting to fight for the first time since a March 2013 knockout loss to Mark Hunt in Japan. In that fight, his jaw was broken. But it was a heart ailment that surfaced not long after that that has kept him on the sidelines.

In April, Struve said medication he was taking was working, and soon after, he was cleared to be booked for the fight with Mitrione. But now his return is on hold – with an uncertain timetable for when he can come back, and if that will be against Mitrione or a new opponent.

Struve was scheduled to make $40,000 in show money and an additional $40,000 in win bonus money, bringing his total payday to $80,000. Mitrione was scheduled to make $30,000/$30,000, giving him a $60,000 check for the canceled fight.

MMAjunkie received a list of the disclosed salaries for UFC 175 from the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
