will-chope-ufc-fight-night-38Although he’s been pulled from today’s lineup and released from the organization, Will Chope will receive his fight purse for today’s UFC Fight Night 38 event.

UFC President Dana White told MMAjunkie the fighter will receive his “show” money. He didn’t disclose the amount.

As reported earlier today, Chope (19-6 MMA, 0-1 UFC) was pulled from his fight with fellow featherweight Diego Brandao (18-9 MMA, 4-2 UFC) and cut from the roster after details of his past came to light. Brandao received his “show” money and his win bonus following the bout’s cancellation.

UFC Fight Night 38 takes place today at Ginasio Nelio Dias in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. The bulk of the card airs on FOX Sports 1 following a lone prelim on UFC Fight Pass.

Chope, who was slated to make his second UFC appearance in today’s featured preliminary-card bout, assaulted his wife and threatened her with a knife in November 2009. and it wasn’t the only incident, according to the U.S. Air Force, which ultimately booted Chope from service.

“The UFC does not condone behavior of this nature whatsoever and Chope has been released from his contract,” a UFC statement read.
