WSOF officials announced Wednesday that David Branch and Jesse Taylor will collide in a middleweight tournament final that will also serve to crown promotions’ first 185-pound champion. WSOF 10 takes place June 21 at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and will also see Georgi Karakhanyan take on Rick Glenn in a co-headlining featherweight title duel live on NBC Sports Network.
Promotion officials additionally announced that a third championship affair will join the main card shortly, though specifics regarding that contest were not revealed.
Branch, 32, rides a three-fight winning streak into his title opportunity. The Renzo Gracie Jiu-Jitsu rep joined the WSOF in 2012 and has yet to taste defeat, posting decision victories over Dustin Jacoby and Paulo Filho before doing the same to Danillo Villefort last September to advance in the tournament draw.
Taylor, 30, has not lost since May 2012, winning seven straight fights over the last two years. “JT Money” made his promotional debut in the tournament semifinals, out-wrestling Elvis Mutapcic in a unanimous verdict last December at WSOF 7.
