Dana White not thrilled with presidential candidates, won't rule out a vote for Trump

UFC President Dana White is known for his brash personality and willingness to say whatever he wants, “normal” PR philosophy be damned.

There’s a man running for president of the United States who shares that same philosophy, and White isn’t willing to dismiss the idea of casting a vote his way.

Donald Trump has captured the attention of a big portion of the Republican base through his unfiltered – and often offensive – approach to many touchy political subjects. While Trump’s actions have led to charges of racism, misogyny and more, he has continued to show strong in the polls.

White talked to FOX Sports Live about Trump and was asked if he would vote for the business magnate.

“I don’t know,” White said. “I’m not too thrilled with any of the options out there right now. I think that’s why Trump is doing so well. Obviously, he isn’t our typical politician. Donald Trump has been very supportive of the UFC.”

That support was explained by a story White has told many times before. After Zuffa purchased the UFC, Trump opened his doors to the promotion when few others would.

“A crazy story about Donald Trump is, when we first bought this company, none of the venues out there wanted us,” White said. “Donald Trump was actually the first guy to open up his venue to us. And, he was actually in the seats watching the UFC fights in the beginning.”

That move, all the way back in 2001, is something that has stuck with White and led to a continued positive relationship with Trump.

“You know, I actually like Donald Trump,” White said. “I have a good relationship with him.”
