A featherweight fight between Dan Hooker (13-6 MMA, 3-2 UFC) and Jason Knight (14-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) is slated for UFC Fight Night 101.
UFC officials recently made the bout official.
UFC Fight Night 101 takes place Nov. 26 (Nov. 27 in Australia) at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The event airs on FS1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass, though the bout order hasn’t been finalized.
Hooker, a 26-year-old New Zealander was recently in a 1-2 skid, but it included a “Performance of the Night” head-kick knockout win over Hatsu Hioki – one that earned MMAjunkie’s “Knockout of the Month.” Most recently, he earned a submission victory over Mark Eddiva in March. Twelve of his 13 career wins have now come via stoppage (six stoppages and six knockouts).
Knight, a 24-year-old who signed with the UFC in 2015 while on an 8-0 run, suffered a unanimous-decision loss to Tatsuya Kawajiri in his promotional debut. In July, though, he picked up his first UFC win with a split-decision victory over former Cage Warriors champ Jim Alers. It earned “Fight of the Night” honors despite taking place on the early UFC Fight Pass prelims, where fighters often need dazzling performances to stand out for potential bonuses.
