Dan Henderson Hasn't Decided to Return to Middleweight... but He Hasn't Decided Not To | MMAWeekly.com

Despite reports to the contrary, UFC fighter Dan Henderson hasn’t yet determined what weight class he’ll fight in next.

Since losing the Strikeforce middleweight championship to Jake Shields in April of 2010, Henderson has since fought at light heavyweight, save for his TKO stoppage of Fedor Emelianenko in a one-off heavyweight bout.

His results since returning to the UFC at 205 pounds, however, have been less than stellar. Henderson has put on some tremendous fights, but has only managed a 2-4 record in the Octagon during his recent run.

Despite the facts suggesting a drop back down to middleweight might be in his best interests, Henderson on Wednesday said that he hasn’t yet made such a determination, shooting down speculation that his next fight was already set at middleweight.

“It’s funny how rumors get started,” Henderson wrote on Twitter. “If you have read that I will be returning to middleweight.  Not true, but always a possibility.”

Henderson has followed such an approach throughout his career, frequently fighting at whatever weight class offered him the best fight. He held championship belts at both 183 and 205 pounds concurrently, while fighting for Pride FC.

So, while he hasn’t made the decision to fight at middleweight in his next trip to the Octagon, he hasn’t decided not to, either.
