Cub Swanson vs. Ross Pearson, Ramsey Nijem vs. C.J. Keith Added to UFC on FX 4

UFC officials Thursday announced a pair of new matchups for UFC on FX 4.

Ross Pearson will make his sophomore featherweight appearance against Cub Swanson, and Ramsey Nijem will welcome unbeaten lightweight newcomer C.J. Keith on June 22 in Atlantic City, N.J.

A venue has not yet been determined for the event, which is headlined by a five-round lightweight affair between Clay Guida and Gray Maynard and airs live on FX. The evening’s undercard will be broadcast on Fuel TV immediately prior to the FX offering.

The lightweight winner of “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 9, Pearson (Pictured) cut to featherweight last year after losing to Cole Miller and Edson Barboza in a three-fight span. The Brit made his first appearance at 145 pounds on Dec. 30, notching a unanimous decision over the unorthodox Junior Assuncao at UFC 141. Known for his tight boxing skills, Pearson has won “Fight of the Night” honors twice since he joined the UFC in 2009.

Swanson, meanwhile, has split his last six bouts. An eight-time World Extreme Cagefighting veteran, the 28-year-old rebounded from a submission defeat to Ricardo Lamas in his November UFC debut, blasting George Roop en route to a second-round technical knockout victory at January’s UFC on Fox 2. The California native owns notable career victories over Mackens Semerzier, Micah Miller, Hiroyuki Takaya and Charlie Valencia and has been knocked out just once as a professional.

An alumnus of “TUF 13,” Nijem, 23, suffered a setback at the season’s live finale on June 4, falling by knockout to Tony Ferguson in their welterweight finale. Nijem rebounded from the defeat, however, cutting to lightweight and dominating Daniel Downes this past October at UFC 137.

Two years older than his foe, Keith has fought the entirety of his career in the Gladiator Challenge and The Warriors Cage promotions, earning over half of his victories by either knockout or submission. The undefeated lightweight last competed on Oct. 26, knocking out John Reedy in less than two minutes at TWC 12.
