December’s UFC 206 event has a new and intriguing featherweight matchup.
UFC officials have announced a fight between Cub Swanson (23-7 MMA, 8-3 UFC) and Dooho Choi (15-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC).
UFC 206 takes place Dec. 10 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass. The bout order hasn’t been determined.
Swanson is No. 7 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA featherweight rankings, and Choi is No. 15.
Swanson, who had contemplated retirement following a yearlong layoff and back-to-back losses to Frankie Edgar and Max Holloway, has gotten back on track in 2016. The 32-year-old has picked up decision wins over Hacran Dias and Tatsuya Kawajiri, and he now looks for his third straight win.
He now meets “The Korean Superboy,” a 25-year-old who’s won 13 straight fights – the past eight via knockout. Since joining the UFC, the M-1 and Deep vet has stopped Juan Puig, Sam Sicilia and Thiago Tavares. The latter two earned “Performance of the Night” bonuses.
