Cris Cyborg: 'Ronda Rousey Has Run From Me A Long Time' | MMAWeekly.com

The rivalry between Cris “Cyborg” Justino and Ronda Rousey dates back to their days as Strikeforce champions in different weight classes in 2012. Rousey held the 135-pound title while Justino had possession of the 145-pound belt. Since then, Rousey has gone on to become a UFC champion and the biggest name in women’s MMA while “Cyborg” has continued to annihilate everyone put before her.

For years, the stipulation holding up the super-fight from happening was that “Cyborg” had to make 135-pounds to face Rousey. She was unable to cut down to 135, but took catchweight fights at 140 in hopes that it would lead to the Rousey bout happening with both mCris Cyborgeeting in the middle.

Rousey lost her title to Holly Holm at UFC 193 in November 2015. She returns for the first time since being dethroned against current champion Amanda Nunes in the UFC 207 main event on Dec. 30 after more than a year layoff.

“Cyborg” doesn’t think Rousey should be fighting for the title after sitting out for so long.

“After her loss to Holly Holm, she took like a one-year break. I don’t think she should fight for the belt after a one-year break. I think she should have rematched Holly Holm, or fought somebody else. But I don’t think she’s humble enough to fight somebody not for the belt,” Justino told Submission Radio.

UFC president Dana White recently said that Rousey really wants to fight “Cyborg,” but Justino isn’t buying it.

“If she wins or loses her next fight, she’s not going to fight me. I already know. She doesn’t like to challenge herself. If she loses, she’s going to retire. If she wins… she’ll say the same things she said before,” she said.

“Cyborg” asserted that Rousey has been avoiding a fight with her for five years, and if Rousey really wanted to fight her that the fight would have already taken place.

“I don’t’ think this fight is going to happen. I know Dana said, ‘Ronda wants this fight really bad.’ If she wanted this fight really bad it would have already happened,” said the Brazilian.

“She doesn’t even say my name. Before, she’d all the time say my name, saying she wants to fight me at 135. Now she doesn’t say my name because we’re in the same organization. If she would say my name, this fight would happen,” Justino said.

The 31-year-old featherweight champion has given up hope on a fight with Rousey ever coming to fruition.

“Ronda has run from me for a long time. This is no surprise that she didn’t fight me for her next fight. Of course not; she can not take a punch. She doesn’t have a strong mind,” she added.
