Conor McGregor will be beaten as we put him in deep waters says Dos Anjos' coach

Rafael Dos Anjos' could be the first fighter to make Conor McGregor call for the bell.

That's the verdict of the challenger's coach Rafael Cordeiro.

With only three weeks to go until March 5 and UFC 196 he told Revgear Europe how he expects the fight will go.

He said: "From my perspective, Rafael will do well and is going to fight very well."

"He is very excited for this fight and we are going to put McGregor in deep waters. He's never fought anybody on the same level as Rafa."

Cordeiro then commented on the fact that McGregor knocked out Dos Anjos' fellow countryman Jose Aldo in just 13-seconds back in December.

Despite the stunning KO, the head coach of Kings MMA said he still believes that Aldo could have beaten McGregor and that it has only made Dos Anjos and his team more determined to beat the Irishman this time around.

Cordeiro said: "The fight against Jose Aldo was unfortunately a quick fight.

"We knew if it had gone to the second, third and fourth, we knew Jose Aldo could have beat him but unfortunately, it was a knockout but a fight is a fight and we are going to do everything to make sure Rafa raises his arm at the end of the fight and we are going to work hard for that"

The Brazilian didn't end his predictions there though. Cordeiro then went to say that he expected Dos Anjos to take McGregor places he had never been before inside the Octagon and to even make him quit:

"We believe Rafa can beat McGregor in a bad way. We are going to put him in deep waters.

"Maybe it's going to be the first time that [McGregor] is going to ask to stop the fight."

While Cordeiro's words were spoken with his signature smile, there will no doubt be some determination behind them following McGregor comment's a few weeks ago about the Kings MMA gym.

Speaking at the UFC 196 press conference, McGregor stated the following in response to a question about UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum saying the Irishman had asked to come train at Kings MMA.

He said: “Why would I wanna train in that bum gym? I train with my own people, I have since day one. That man needs to get his facts straight before I roll in there and buy that gym and turn it into a f***ing dump."

The countdown to UFC 196 is now on and McGregor will be spending one last week in Dublin before heading out to Las Vegas to finish his preparations. On March 5th the Irishman has the opportunity to make UFC history by becoming the first man ever to hold two UFC titles in two different weight classes at the same time.

The only thing standing in his way is Rafael Dos Anjos and with Cordeiro's words today, it would appear the Brazilian is as equally as determined to spoil the party.
