The 13-bout lineup for next month’s “UFC on FUEL TV 9: Gustafsson vs. Mousasi” event is now complete with the official addition of a welterweight fight between “The Ultimate Fighter 17? cast members Adam Cella (4-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) and Tor Troeng (15-4-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC).
The bout was first reported earlier this month, and UFC officials recently confirmed the contest for the evening’s preliminary card. While “TUF 17? is still currently airing, Cella and Troeng each suffered knockout losses in the tournament.
However, as MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) previously reported, UFC President Dana White was so please by the effort of every fighter on “TUF 17? that he promised all 14 cast members at least one official octagon appearance.
UFC on FUEL TV 9 takes place April 6 at Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, and the main card airs on FUEL TV following Facebook prelims.
Troeng, who fights in his home country, makes his UFC debut on the heels of a four-fight win streak on the European circuit. The 30-year-old was Chael Sonnen’s fourth-round pick on “TUF” but ultimately suffered a knockout loss to Josh Samman in the show’s sixth episode.
He takes on Cella, a Jon Jones’ team member who was on the receiving end of Uriah Hall’s highlight-reel knockout in the third episode. Before his time on the show, Cella had won all four of his pro fights via first-round stoppage.
