Carvalho Meets Mitsuoka at Dream Japan GP Final

Seven bouts are now official for Dream’s bantamweight grand prix final on July 16, as a lightweight scrap between Bruno Carvalho and Eiji Mitsuoka has been green-lit for the event.

The promotion announced the matchup on Friday. Featuring a light heavyweight title conflict between Gegard Mousasi and Hiroshi Izumi, the show will emanate from Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo. The event will also showcase a featherweight title bout, as Hiroyuki Takaya squares off with Kazuyuki Miyata. Additionally, the show will feature the bantamweight tournament final between Masakazu Imanari and Hideo Tokoro.

Carvalho (Pictured; file photo), 29, will carry a four-fight winning streak into the match. A product of the CM System camp, he has finished his last three foes, two of them inside the first round. Carvalho has only fought once outside of his native Brazil.

A veteran of King of the Cage and Pride Fighting Championships, Mitsuoka last fought in April, when he struck Jung Gyeong Lee into submission inside Deep. The veteran holds 11 of his 17 career victories by submission and owns notable wins over Gleison Tibau, Joachim Hansen, Rodrigo Damm and Brian Cobb.
