Travis Browne, Michael Johnson, Manny Gamburyan and Cody Donovan were indefinitely suspended by the Massachusetts State Athletic Commission following UFC Fight Night 26, which oversaw the event.
MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) in August made a public records request to the Massachusetts Department of Public Safety, which oversees the commission, and today received paperwork related to the Aug. 17 fight card at Boston’s TD Garden. The event’s main card aired live on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and Facebook.
A total of 14 fighters were suspended following the event. Fighters who received indefinite suspensions can be cleared to fight by a doctor.
Headliners Chael Sonnen and Mauricio Rua, who lost via first-round submission, emerged without any restrictions.
Browne, who needs a doctor’s clearance on his shin and eyes, served in the co-main event and won a $50,000 “Knockout of the Night” bonus with a front kick that knocked out Alistair Overeem, who was suspended for 60 days with 45 days no contact.
