Another fight has been made official for next month’s UFC return to Brazil, and the card likely is complete with a dozen fights.
Brazil’s Francimar Barroso (18-5 MMA, 3-2 UFC) is official for a light heavyweight bout against the debuting Darren Stewart (7-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC), the promotion recently confirmed. That gives the UFC Fight Night 100 lineup 12 fights with a main card expected to feature five bouts following seven on the prelims.
UFC Fight Night 100 takes place Nov. 19 at Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo. It airs on FS1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass.
The 36-year-old Barroso will be looking for a return to the win column after a second-round rear-naked choke loss to Nikita Krylov in May in the Netherlands. That loss snapped a two-fight run of decisions over Elvis Mutapcic and the late Ryan Jimmo.
Stewart, from London, will get thrown right to the wolves in his UFC debut by having to go to Brazil to fight a Brazilian. The two-and-a-half-year pro has five knockout wins in his seven career victories, including four in the first round. In 2016, he has back-to-back wins under the Cage Warriors banner on UFC Fight Pass – a 37-second TKO of James Hurrell in April and a third-round TKO of Boubacar Balde at Cage Warriors 77 in July, both of which no doubt got the UFC’s attention.
