Benavidez Talks About Johnson-McCall Rematch: Fan Reaction (Yahoo! Contributor Network)

By David King,

Ultimate Fighting Championship flyweights Demetrious Johnson and Ian McCall put on a spectacular show at "UFC on FX," but a scoring error robbed MMA fans of a "sudden victory" round. The Octagon-side judges actually ruled the fight a draw, but a counting error gave Johnson the win.

The error was discovered shortly after, putting an unexpected twist on the UFC's flyweight tournament. Johnson and McCall will now fight again, to decide who faces Joseph Benavidez in the finals of the four-man tournament.

Benavidez - who defeated Yasuhiro Urushitani to advance to the finals—will now have to wait a little longer than initially expected, and he isn't too thrilled about the way things have gone down.

"I am a little disappointed," Benavidez said in an interview with Pro MMA radio. "I felt like I went out there and I did my job to the fullest, I went out there and got the win and did what I had to do. And so did they, they went out there and did their job and it was messed up by somebody else, it's not their fault. They now get to go out there and fight again, they get to get paid again, they get that exposure you know? People are going to watch that while I get to sit there and not get paid and watch them fight again. So it is what it is, they made a mistake and its going to be a great fight again and it can only bring exposure to the Flyweight division."

Even though a "sudden victory" round between Johnson and McCall would have been phenomenal, the scoring error at "UFC on FX" might just turn out to be a blessing in disguise.

Instead of one more round between the two entertaining flyweights, MMA fans now get to watch another full fight. I expect the rematch to be just as entertaining as the first match, and I couldn't be any happier with the UFC's decision to open up a flyweight division.
