Jansen tipped the scales at 155.8 pounds, while Held checked in at 155.9. The men were initially supposed to square off last year at Bellator 84, but that booking was scrapped at the last minute when Held -- then only 20 years old -- was not allowed to enter the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Ind., due to his age.
“I’m just going to mix it up,” Jansen told cage commentator Jimmy Smith at today’s weigh-ins. “The fight has been a long time in the making, and I’m just excited that it is happening.”
Bellator 93 takes place at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston, Maine. In addition to the evening’s headliner, the show’s Spike TV-broadcast will also feature a heavyweight showdown between Ryan Martinez (257.4) and Travis Wiuff (254.1) and a welterweight contest pitting Waachiim Spiritwolf (170.6) against Marcus Davis (170.5). The Spike TV bill was also supposed to showcase an additional battle of heavyweights between Brett Rogers and Eric Prindle, but Prindle was recently forced to withdraw from the booking due to injury.
The Bellator 93 undercard streams on Spike.com immediately prior to the main card broadcast and is highlighted by the Bellator debut of highly-touted English kickboxing talent Michael Page (170.6), who faces local competitor Ryan Sanders (170.5) in a welterweight contest.
