Bellator 89 Continues Steady TV Ratings Run

Bellator MMA LogoBellator 89 continued the trend of steady TV ratings for the promotion since it made the jump to Spike TV in January, following a stint on MTV2.

Bellator 89 drew an average of 719,000 viewers for the live broadcast on Spike, while the live effort combined with the immediate replay totaled 1,032,000 viewers.

The 719,000 viewers for Bellator 89 is slightly below the season average of 796,200 viewers, but the cumulative total marks the fifth time in five events on Spike that Bellator has crested the 1,000,000 viewer mark for combined totals.

Bellator on Spike has consistently drawn four to five times the audience that it had on MTV2.

Bellator 89 featured several middleweight tournament quarterfinal bouts, but was capped by an impressive, but extremely emotional performance by Bellator bantamweight champion Eduardo Dantas.

Dantas knocked out teammate Marcos Galvao in the night’s headlining bout, leaving him happy to have retained his title, but in tears over having defeated his mentor.
