Airing Friday on MTV2 at 8 p.m. ET, Bellator 63 will also see former two-time middleweight tournament participant Bryan Baker square off with Brazilian knockout artist Carlos Alexandre Pereira. Baker weighed in at 169.25 pounds ahead of his bout with “Indio,” who checked in at 171.
The Season 6 welterweight draw was initially expected to contain another UFC veteran in Brian Foster, but he did not receive medical clearance from the Mohegan Sun Commission. As a result, newcomer Jordan Smith (169) will take on the undefeated David Rickels (168.25).
Rounding out the tournament field, Frenchman Karl Amoussou (170) will make his welterweight debut against Chris Lozano (171). Like Smith, Lozano serves as a replacement for yet another UFC veteran forced to withdraw from the tournament. Amoussou was originally slated to lock horns with War Machine in the quarterfinals before the former “Ultimate Fighter” Season 6 contestant was sentenced to a one-year jail term in February.
