Round 1
Referee Gary Copeland starts the heavyweights, and the much larger
James takes center cage. Correa just misses with a right hand down
the pipe, but James clinches with him and drives several hard knees
into the smaller man’s bread basket before powering the undefeated
pro to the mat. Correa is thinking about a hip sweep from guard,
but James passes to side control and then north-south. James gives
Correa some space as he tries to punch, and Correa takes advantage
of the opening, exploding to his feet. Correa clinches his foe and
then catches a knee to the body, running the pipe on a single-leg
and taking James to the canvas. Correa passes guard and grabs a
headlock, rotating into a north-south choke attempt. He gives up on
the hold and returns to side control but can land nothing of
meaning before the bell.

James tapped Correa with strikes.
Correa lands a crisp right, but James grinds him up against the
cage. The heavyweight separate, and James clubs him with a blunt
left from close quarters before driving more knees into Correa’s
body and thighs. Correa tries to pivot away from his larger foe,
but James’ size is paying dividends in the clinch battle. Copeland
separates them, and James lands a kick to the body and swarms with
more short hooks. James clinches him again and continues to attack
with short punches and knees. James uses an underhook to toss
Correa to the canvas, mounting his fatigued opponent and pounding
away with an elbow.
James turns away from the punishment and eats one more hard punch
before tapping to the strikes.

Round 1
Rob Madrigal is the referee for this 215-pound catchweight bout.
Guida moves straight across the cage to clinch and gets turned
around by Gomez, who changes levels to look for a double-leg, then
a single. Guida defends by grabbing underhooks, and the fighters
trade short punches in close quarters as they pummel for position.
Knees to the thighs score for Gomez, countered by an uppercut from
Guida. More uppercuts, this time from Gomez, score inside. Guida is
looking for the Thai plum and hits Gomez with a short elbow. Gomez
sends some hard knees up the center before Guida shoves him away to
the other side of the cage. Guida takes the outside position
momentarily, reversed by Gomez, who drills Guida with a hard
standing elbow. Referee Madrigal warns the fighters to mind their
heads in the clinch, which is where they finish the round. Guida
throws a punch after the bell, but no point is deducted.

Guida lands a pair of leg kicks and an uppercut which sends Gomez
shooting for a single-leg. Guida defends the shot and tries to take
the back, but Gomez stands and shoves Guida against the fence. They
separate and Gomez lands a left before going way low for a
double-leg. Guida sits down on the shot but gets taken down
nonetheless, then rolls to his knees. Gomez is landing punches,
some straying to the back of Guida’s head, which draws a warning
from referee Madrigal. The shots are cleaner now, landing to the
side of the head, causing Guida to move his head and allowing Gomez
to try for a rear-naked choke. Guida defends two RNC attempts, so
Gomez goes back to punching from back mount with 90 seconds
remaining in the round. Guida isn’t offering much of anything in
return but manages to survive Gomez’s ground-and-pound to see round
three.

Both guys are looking slow as the final round begins, staying on
the feet to exchange sporadic punches. Gomez lands a right but eats
a cracking hook from Guida in return, though it doesn’t seem to
faze him. Gomez keeps walking forward, picking his punches and
dodging Guida’s. Now he makes Guida come forward, looking to
counter, but there’s not much to counter at this late stage in the
fight. Gomez changes momentum to hit Guida with punches to the
body, but it’s Guida hitting a takedown with 45 seconds on the
clock. Gomez nearly has his back taken but instead slips out and
reverses to spend the final 30 seconds on top.

Rob Hinds is the referee for this welterweight fight. Reardanz
immediately puts Loffer on the fence with an underhook and works
for an outside trip, trying to grapevine Loffer’s leg. Loffer
defends well and turns Reardanz around before separating from the
clinch. Reardanz is trying all manner of flashy strikes, pushing
off the fence for a Superman punch, spinning and kicking while
avoiding Loffer’s offense by standing way out. Loffer catches a
kick and shoves Reardanz to the ground, then allows him back up.
Reardanz is still picking and running, hitting Loffer with a kick
and then circling out. Loffer begins to show his frustration in the
last 90 seconds, raising his hands and waving Reardanz forward.
Loffer lands a counter right hook and a hard leg kick inside.
Reardanz answers with another outside leg kick. Loffer finally
closes the gap and grabs hold of Reardanz against the fence just as
time runs out.

Loffer cruised to decision Reardanz.
Reardanz slips to the ground but is able to pick Loffer’s ankle and
take top position. Loffer tries to get out from underneath, pushing
off the cage with his feet, but Reardanz winds up in side control.
Reardanz tries to take the back as Loffer stands, then switches to
an armbar from which Loffer escapes. Back on the feet, both men are
throwing wide punches, Reardanz mixing in a leg kick before Loffer
shoves him to the ground. Loffer wants him back up; once on his
feet, Reardanz goes shooting and has to defend a guillotine
attempt. Reardanz throws a sloppy Superman punch and eats a
right-handed counter.
Loffer is marching forward with confidence on the now bloody
Reardanz, stringing together combinations in between jabs and
sprawling on a long double-leg shot. Loffer sticks some more
punches in Reardanz’s face, stuffs another shot and kicks Reardanz
in the ribs while he’s down. Loffer pulls a guillotine just as time

finger in the eye from Loffer’s outstretched left hand. Referee
Madrigal wants Reardanz to be looked at by the cageside physician,
who clears the fighter to continue. Reardanz is still going all-in
on his spinning attacks, though they’re not finding much success.
In contrast, Loffer is doing well and landing at a high volume with
his straightforward boxing. Reardanz comes over the top with a
right hand, pushes Loffer away with a front kick. Loffer catches
the next kick, can’t capitalize and has to dodge yet another
spinning back fist. Loffer sprawls on a shot with three minutes
left in the bout; Reardanz wants to stay on the ground, but Loffer

Caldwell quickly submitted Surma.
Caldwell fakes a shot early, doesn’t get Surma to
bite and stands back up to land a hard leg kick inside. A leaping
knee lands for Caldwell, who snares Surma in a deep guillotine as
Surma tries to catch the leg and score a takedown. The
featherweights scramble up, Caldwell still holding the guillotine,
and after a moment of adjusting, Surma taps out. Caldwell holds the
choke for an extra second as referee Gary Copeland tries to peel
him off, but the fighters hug afterward.

Round 1
Matthews takes 45 seconds to wade inside and grab hold of a
single-leg, which Muhammad defends with his back to the fence,
making Matthews pay with short punches. Matthews gives up on the
takedown and resumes stalking Muhammad around the outside. Muhammad
gets off a good outside leg kick, tries to go up top and gets
blocked. He shuts down another shot from Matthews, and the
welterweights trade thumping kicks to the body. Muhammad evades a
wide punch from Matthews and dips out, though he can’t land a clean
counter on the way. Matthews is slowed momentarily by a kick to the
groin but tells referee Gary Copeland that he’s goo to continue.
Now it’s Muhammad looking for a takedown, wrapping up Matthews from
behind and dumping him to the canvas. Matthews is back on his feet
immediately but can’t separate himself from Muhammad, and the
welterweights jockey for position on the fence. They break with 35
second on the clock. Matthews walks straight at Muhammad, clinches
and tosses him to the ground to finish the round on top.

Muhammad resumes circling with his back to the fence, with Matthews
following him around, staying just a foot away. There’s lots of
busy work from Muhammad, scoring with a single kick and then
changing directions to do the same again. He catches a kick from
Matthews and sticks a right hand down the middle, then circles off
to the left and puts a pair of kicks on Matthews’ body. A leg kick
lands for Matthews, so Muhammad comes off the fence briefly to
punch. A left hand sneaks through for Muhammad, followed up by a
pair of low kicks. The welterweights tie up on the cage and
Muhammad nearly completes a double-leg, thwarted by Matthews with
the switch at the last moment. Muhammad gives Matthews some space
and then hits one last takedown. Matthews is back on his feet by

face. After a minute, however, Muhammad slows Matthews’ roll with a
strong double-leg takedown. Again, Matthews is quick to stand and
separate, and the welterweights reset with three minutes left in
the fight. Matthews comes forward swinging punches and stuffs
Muhammad’s next takedown attempt. Another double-leg from Muhammad
is sprawled on, but Matthews seems too tired to make Muhammad pay.
Ninety seconds remaining and Muhammad shoves Matthews against the
fence, twice changing levels for a takedown which doesn’t
materialize. Matthews shuts down one last shot and shoves Muhammad
to the ground, taking top position with 20 seconds to go. Matthews

Both welterweights come out swinging, though Coy looks ready to
clinch up behind his punches. Bradley swings him away, resets and
charges forward, straight into a straight punch. Bradley is knocked
down but pops back up to eat a couple more punches. A kick from Coy
grazes the cup of Bradley, who’s quick to recover. The
welterweights get back to slugging; this time it’s Coy who hits the
deck, though this one is off a slip. From southpaw, Coy bloodies
Bradley with a pair of stiff left hands down the middle. Both men
are bleeding now, Bradley from his nose and the outside corner of
his left eye, and Coy with a smaller one on the outside of his left
eye. Down the stretch in the opening round, Coy is still finding
success with his left hand. When Bradley catches a kick, it’s Coy
slugging away with punches while on one leg.

Coy was too much for Bradley to handle.
Coy throws punches down the center while rushes Bradley against the
fence, changing levels to try a takedown after catching a kick.
Bradley defends and circles out, still looking to counter Coy’s
punches with straight shots. The problem is that Coy has the length
advantage and is able to touch Bradley with punches and then escape
before the counters. Bradley ties up briefly in the middle of the
cage, can’t find an advantage and releases. He zaps Coy with a wide
right hook, eats a jab and a left in return. Coy sends another hard
shot down the middle, lands a couple outside leg kicks and gets
grazed by a Bradley right.
Bradley stings with a left, so Coy comes back with a right cross, a
double jab and a right hook. Left hook scores for Coy as he steps
inside and takes a short counter hook. With 30 seconds to go, Coy
shoots a single against the fence, lifts Bradley and dumps him to

Bradley works from the center of the cage early in the final round,
moving with Coy and throwing right-hand counters. Coy hits the
ground after one punch, though it seems to be a partial slip as
he’s immediately back on his feet. Bradley is throwing big punches
with bad intent, and a few right hands slam through, but Coy is
still getting the better of the striking with his cleaner jabs and
hooks. Coy goes back to the straight left-right hook pairing which
has been working throughout the fight. He rocks Bradley’s head with
a left uppercut. The welterweights clash heads as they duck inside
with 90 seconds to go. Bradley eats a left, rips off a two-piece
combo in the pocket. Coy lands another straight left and then goes
to the body with a right hook. Thirty-five seconds remaining and
Coy hits one final takedown at the base of the fence. Bradley goes

The welterweights feel one another out in the opening minute,
probing with punches before McDonough scores with a few down the
center and Juarez shoots on his legs. Juarez goes from a single- to
a double-leg, then tries to take out McDonough’s ankle while
absorbing hammer fists. Juarez finally puts McDonough on his back,
McDonough tries to sweep out of danger but can’t and winds up in an
arm-triangle choke. McDonough is helped by the cage, which blocks
Juarez from getting the angle to finish the choke, and McDonough
escapes to his feet after a scary minute. Juarez gets a rear
waistlock against the cage with two minutes left in the round and
throws knees at McDonough’s legs. It looks like Juarez will get his
takedown with a trip at the one-minute mark, but McDonough stuffs
him underneath and steps right into full mount. McDonough doesn’t
have much room to strike, keeping close to Juarez. When he does
throw punches, ref Rob Hinds tells McDonough to watch the back of

McDonough edged Juarez on the cards.
McDonough takes out Juarez’s lead leg with a kick counter to a
right hand, then hits him with a couple good punches as Juarez
kneels in the middle of the cage. McDonough follows him down and
throws shots to the body from north-south position, keeping Juarez
in place with a headlock. McDonough knocks Juarez backward, and
Juarez tries rubber guard before McDonough presses his way to
half-guard. Two minutes into the round and McDonough passes to side
control on Juarez’s left, begins dropping knees on the shoulder.
Juarez bumps and rolls, escaping to his feet midway through the
round.
McDonough hits a spinning back kick to the legs of an off-balance
Juarez, who briefly hits the ground. Juarez is pressing forward
with punches and knees but has to back up under return fire.
McDonough gets caught throwing a spinning kick and has to defend

Oropeza blasted Souza on the temple.
Souza circles the outside, planting a hand and trying to sweep
Oropeza’s legs out from underneath. Oropeza thwarts it and clinches
with the Brazilian on the fence, throwing some knees inside before
being spun around. Oropeza shakes off Souza’s underhooks and breaks
away. Souza kicks away the oncoming Oropeza with a teep kick, but
Oropeza keeps coming and stuffs a trip attempt to land in Souza’s
guard. Souza gets to his knees, his right side facing the fence,
and Oropeza roughs him up with hands and knees before Souza
scrambles up. Oropeza circles out of Souza’s clinch and whips a
hard left kick to the ribs.
Souza backs up and Oropeza clubs him with a sweeping right hook on

Referee Gary Copeland is the third man in the cage for tonight’s
145-pound title fight. Straus gets off first with a reaching left
hand, blocked by Curran’s high guard. Curran comes back with a
right hook around the outside, also deflected. Straus slips on a
kick, pops up and comes charging at Curran, who defends with a knee
and reverses the champ against the cage. Curran looks for a trip
and gets it 90 seconds into the round, coming down into Straus’
open guard. Curran postures up and looks to pass to the side,
getting snared in a loose inverted triangle. Straus loses the choke
and now he’s on his knees, leaning forward to keep tight and fend
off a Curran guillotine. Curran keeps hold of the headlock and
knees Straus in the shoulder before the featherweights stand up.
Curran still has control, pressing Straus against the cage with 90
seconds left. Straus does well to defend Curran’s trip attempts,
then slaps on a modified guillotine choke when Curran shoots on his
legs. Curran goes to the ground and rolls to loosen Straus’ grip,
but still finishes the round on his knees.

knee. The fighters throw low kicks at the same time and Curran’s
kick grazes Straus’ cup. Straus is eager to get back to business
and comes jumping at Curran with a knee. More effective are the
right and left hooks that come behind it and force Curran to put up

threatens to come forward but doesn’t let his hands go. He’s
knocked to the ground momentarily when Straus catches a kick and

breaks up the fighters to wipe some excess Vaseline from Curran’s
eye, then restarts them in the center. Straus is scoring with leg
kicks but eating some hard punches from Curran, who’s suddenly
finding a home for his right hand. Half a round remains and Curran
tags Straus with another short right hook, then blocks a high kick.
Good work from Curran in the pocket now, but Straus is standing
firm, firing back mostly with kicks. Curran shoots a single-leg
against the cage, goes to his knees and switches to a double which
puts Straus down. Straus goes to his knees and Curran leaps on his
back, sinking in both hooks and slapping on a rear-naked choke.
Straus goes to his left side and tucks his chin, giving referee
Copeland a thumbs up. Curran is desperately trying to sink the
choke, and with 20 seconds left, he gets under the chin. Straus
