alexander-shlemenko-1.jpgBellator middleweight champion Alexander Shlemenko (184.7) and hard-hitting challenger Doug Marshall (184.3) made their championship fight official at today’s Bellator 109 weigh-ins.

Today’s ceremony took place in the North Hampton and LeHigh rooms inside Sands Casino Resort in Bethlehem, Penn. Friday’s Bellator 109 event takes place at the same property’s Sands Bethlehem Event Center. The night’s four-fight main card airs live on Spike TV (9 p.m. ET) following prelims at Spike.com (6:30 p.m. ET).

While the night’s headliners had no issue with the scale, Season 9 lightweight tournament finalist Will Brooks did weigh a bit heavy at 156.1 pounds and was given additional time to hit the required mark. He did so on his second attempt, registering 156 pounds.

Preliminary fighter and top prospect Goiti Yamauchi also struggled, registering a whopping 152.3 pounds for his featherweight contest with Saul Almeida. Yamauchi elected to pay a purse penalty, and the bout will go on as a catchweight matchup.
